Nanbo Strategic Planning Board Retreat Facilitation

Market Research & Development, Inc. (MR&D) partnered with Nanbo Insurance to design and facilitate a strategic board retreat aimed at redefining the company’s future direction amid declining performance and increasing market competition. The initiative was driven by the need for ownership to reassess the company’s core business focus, evaluate growth opportunities, and align on a unified long-term vision. 

MR&D developed and led a structured, full-day retreat engaging board members in guided discussions for key strategic areas, including company expectations, core competencies, market trends, and competitive positioning across the insurance and real estate sectors. The session incorporated an economic and industry overview of Guam, as well as facilitated breakout discussions to encourage participation and consensus-building among stakeholders. 

The retreat was organized into two phases: a morning session focused on refreshing the company’s vision and values, and an afternoon session dedicated to identifying strategic priorities, performance metrics, and short- and long-term initiatives. MR&D utilized interactive facilitation techniques, audiovisual tools, and structured discussion guides to ensure productive dialogue and actionable outcomes. 

Following the session, MR&D prepared detailed transcripts and a comprehensive report summarizing key insights, agreed-upon strategic directions, and recommended initiatives. This deliverable serves as a management tool to guide board decision-making, strengthen organizational alignment, and support Nanbo’s long-term sustainability and growth.
