Guam Farmers Co-Operative Research & Stakeholder Engagement Study

MR&D conducted a qualitative research and stakeholder engagement study with the Guam Farmers Co-Operative to better understand the challenges, opportunities, and future outlook of the local agricultural sector. The project aimed to capture insights from farmers and industry leaders to inform policy recommendations, resource allocation, and development strategies.

Through facilitated focus group discussions with co-op leadership and members, MR&D explored key issues such as access to land, infrastructure limitations, market competition, government support, and adoption of modern farming practices. The study also examined barriers to growth, including labor shortages, aging workforce demographics, and environmental challenges such as pests and extreme weather events.

Findings highlighted the need for improved government coordination, expanded access to funding and grants, modernization of agricultural practices, and increased investment in infrastructure and education. MR&D delivered actionable insights to support sustainable growth, strengthen local food production, and enhance the long-term resilience of Guam’s agricultural sector.
