MR&D conducted a mixed-method research study for the Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) to assess public sentiment regarding the development of a new hospital facility. The project aimed to evaluate community support, identify concerns, and inform planning decisions related to infrastructure, accessibility, and public services.
The study began with a series of qualitative focus groups involving healthcare professionals, government and private sector stakeholders, and residents from both the immediate project area and the broader island community. Insights from these discussions informed the design of a quantitative survey administered to a representative sample of Guam residents via Computer-Aided Telephone Interviewing (CATI).
MR&D analyzed the data to identify key drivers of support and opposition, as well as concerns related to construction impacts, infrastructure capacity, and long-term benefits. The findings provided GEDA with a clear understanding of public priorities and actionable recommendations to guide communication strategies and project development.
