Invest Guam - Guam Economic Development Authority - Marketing & Consulting Services
The Challenge
Invest Guam – Marketing & Consulting Services: In 2014, Guam emerged on the cusp of one of the most robust periods of economic growth in the island’s history. The Guam Economic Development Authority (GEDA) was looking to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the impending economic growth, and decided to host an economic symposium to present the opportunities and challenges the anticipated level of growth will bring to foreign and local investors as well as the Guam business community. Our team was selected through a competitive bid to facilitate and coordinate the production and promotion of the event.
The MR&D Approach
Our team worked closely with GEDA to identify the goals and objectives they had hoped to achieve with the symposium. Once these were identified, we worked with GEDA to develop an agenda that would help realize these objectives. From there, the team set out to recruit guest speakers who would not only help to communicate the message that GEDA was trying to convey, but whose contributions also helped to further advance and develop message explaining what Guam has to offer. Equally important, the symposium was designed to reinforce the fact that GEDA is the driving force for the economic development initiatives of the Government of Guam. The team was also responsible for all scheduled media events and public appearances leading up to the symposium, the development of uniquely themed conference materials, and the construction and maintenance of a website created specifically for the symposium.
The Outcome
The symposium was a success. There were over 250 attendants and over 30 sponsors for the event. The speaker list included such notables as The Honorable Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Assistant Secretary for the Department of Insular Areas Esther P. Kia’aina, Key note Speaker Joshua Cooper Ramo, and the Honorable Governor Eddie Baza Calvo to name a few. The team handled all audio and video requirements, including sourcing the production needs, as well as all of the event promotion and advertising. More importantly, the event was able to not only communicate to the attendees about the opportunities that Guam and GEDA were presenting, the event also featured credible guest speakers who not only confirmed all of the opportunities available, but were also able to elaborate and provide specific details with regards to actual budgets they were planning for Guam.
