Mr. Jay R. Merrill is Chairman of Market Research & Development, Inc. (MR&D). As MR&D Chairman, Mr. Merrill has played a key role in the development of the business and consumer research industry on Guam. He established the first full service business and market research agency on Guam in 1984 and established the visitor consumer research protocols currently adopted by the Guam Visitors Bureau in collecting visitor industry research. In addition to his position as Chairman, he currently provides strategic market planning services to industry and government services. He has provided strategic planning services to the Guam Community College, the Guam Memorial Hospital, the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Guam Contractors Association as well as numerous private companies on Guam. Mr. Merrill is also the Executive Director for the Center of Micronesian Empowerment.
Mr. Chris Unpingco is the Project Manager for Market Research & Development. Previously, he worked as Marketing Manager for Triple J Enterprises, overseeing all of the marketing and advertising needs for their numerous companies. Prior to that, Chris had worked providing marketing services at Marianas Media, provided procurement assistance at the Guam Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAC), and prior to that had served in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot. Chris has played a key role in a number of MR&D projects for the Guam Economic Development Authority, Guam Power Authority, Marianas Visitors Authority, Center for Micronesian Empowerment, and the FSM Telecommunications company to name a few. He currently provides marketing and strategic planning services to MR&D’s growing client base, which is comprised of both government and private industry clients, and has been a member of the MR&D team since 2014.
Ms. Aranda specializes in quantitative research management and analysis. With extensive experience in virtually every aspect of information management – from research design, project coordination, field supervision and training, computer training, to data processing – April is responsible for ensuring that clients not only have access to data, but are in a position to interpret and use it to optimal strategic benefit.
Jayde Y. Bello is a Research Assistant at Market Research & Development, Inc. (MR&D). Through her role, she assists in performing crucial market research functions for MR&D’s growing client base. Jayde is a graduate from the Psychology Program at the University of Guam and has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research in various fields, including mental well being, economic development, and customer attitudes and preferences to name a few. The combination of education, training, and experience has provided Jayde with a strong and diverse background to successfully interact with others on individual, group, and professional levels.
Shiela Dames is the Administrative Officer for Market Research & Development. She oversees all of the administrative duties for both MR&D and for the Center for Micronesian Empowerment (CME). Ms. Dames has a background in client relations, management accounting, office administration, and project management. She has extensive experience in the hospitality industry, real estate, and retail operations. Ms. Dames joined the team in 2014 and has quickly established herself as a crucial part of the day to day operations of not only MR&D but also for CME.
